Our Story
The first true wick candles were developed by the ancient Romans, who dipped rolled papyrus into melted tallow or beeswax. Throughout history, candles have been used for lighting, religious ceremonies, and later as decoration, with modern materials like paraffin wax emerging in the 19th century.
My story of Candle Culture began centuries later during one of the most uncertain times in modern history.
In 2020, the world was gripped by the COVID-19 pandemic. Life as we knew it came to a halt. I had just welcomed my first child and had recently become engaged. While the world was slowing down, mine was just beginning. Yet, being a new stay-at-home mom during a global lockdown was far from easy. Between sleepless nights, postpartum depression, and isolation, I felt trapped both mentally and physically.
One day, after the kind of diaper explosion every parent remembers, I found myself fighting a lingering odor that refused to leave the house. I tried everything like air fresheners, sprays, and opening windows, but nothing worked. That moment sparked something unexpected.
I’ve always had a love for science and experimentation, so I turned to what I like to call Google University. I started researching how to make candles, digging through tutorials and tips until I finally melted, mixed, and poured my very first one. It wasn’t perfect, but it worked, and it changed everything.
That first candle led to another, and then another. I ordered a proper candle-making kit and began crafting candles that not only filled my home with long-lasting fragrance but also filled me with joy and purpose. I shared them with family and friends, who instantly fell in love with their scent and longevity. The compliments poured in, and with them, a realization. I had created something special.
From that spark, Candle Culture was born through resilience, self-discovery, and a little bit of diaper chaos. What began as a way to lift myself out of postpartum depression has grown into a mission to inspire and comfort others through scent and light.
Today, Candle Culture is more than a brand it’s a story of healing, creativity, and self love. My goal is to reach everyone who needs a moment of encouragement, a breath of calm, and a fragrance that lingers long after the flame goes out.
